About an hour from Hoppo we came to a wide-open broad grassy spot that Ram told us was Makalu Base Camp, although I’m not aware of any climbs starting from that spot. The view to Lhotse East Face and Everest Kangshung East Face was awesome! On the far left are Pethangtse (6738m), Shartse (7502m), and Peak 38 (7589m, also called Shartse II).
